I noticed some schools have a 60 or 30 credit limit. If I have say 70 CC credits would my application just be discarded at these schools? how does this work exactly? Also, I have my English and Physics pre-reqs done here, would they transfer? I have received some mixed answers and would like some clarification regarding this. Thank you.

Is this a credit limit for ALL CLASSES or just PRE-REQS?

I ask because it's unusual for someone to go to a CC and then transfer with only 30 CC units.

Let me sum it up for you guys.

Beside Tufts and BU, you can apply to the rest.

I was referring to all classes. After Physics 1&2 I would have 69 CC credits. I would just like to make sure that my prereqs get accepted, I dont care about any of the random classes I took.

This was discussed before. If you still have doubts about what people are telling you, I suggest calling the dental schools yourself. Ask student affairs about the concerns you have with the limit on the amount of CC work you can have. They will be the ones to give you the best answer and put your mind at ease. Good Luck!

I've read others having success getting into dental school going over the limit. I think if the dental school you're applying to wants you, then they will allow you to get away with some of their requirements. For example, I applied to one school that requests 3 letters of recommendation from science professor. I only had two and still got the interview. If you're a really good candidate and have amazing app and stats, then they will overlook somethings.

Hi!!

I can all misconceptions about CC and credits. You can have any amount of CC credits. If you have 65 credits and want to apply to a school that has a limit of 60, the school will consider all your dental school pre-reqs first into the first 60 units. Unless you had to repeat your pre-reqs so many times, you won't go over 60 units in the first place. The pre-reqs are the units they care about so if it doesn't go over 60, you're fine.

In regards to the schools you can apply to, it is true that Temple, Tufts, and Boston will not accept any CC units, but beware of other schools. In the ADEA Dental School Guide book, some schools will say that they do accept CC work, but they highly do not recommend it. Some schools will give you a limit of 30 units.
