question about community college marks and retaking at university

If I took a class in Community college, say Bio 101, and got a C-. If I retake it in community college, they will just average the two marks together.

But what happens if I retake it in a university? Will the two marks get averaged, or will the new mark be the university one.

I don't think med schools or pharmacy schools will accept grades from a Canadian community college, unless perhaps it was part of a bachelors degree program?

Don't forget that many medical schools calculate your GPA in a different way than your educational institution does.

Just because your college averages the two marks, doesn't mean that's how your med school will record the course mark in your file.

Some med schools will take the more recent mark. Some take the first mark. Some will only accept a 're-take' if you do better in the advanced level course (ie. get a D in Chem 100 and an A in Chem 100 again and they only consider the D; get a D in Chem 100 and an A in Chem 200 and they'll treat your Chem 100 mark as an A).

Check out the policy on the website of the school you're applying to. They usually spell out really clearly how they handle course and MCAT repeats.
