School is going fine but I feel that my life and relationships could be better. Say I decide to go see a counselor. I pay for the sessions using my insurance. Sure there's confidentiality, but if there is any sort of diagnostic "label" put on me for what I tell the counselor, does this go on any records that would be accessible by future employers? That is, if none of my personal problems are destroying my ability to perform as a med student, would there be any ramifications in my professional life if I talk to a therapist?

Hi...

The easy answer to your question is to simply run your concerns by the therapist. Be open about what worries you. Your questions are good ones... just go to the source for the answer.
