Hi guys. I wanted to know what the minimum is to apply to dental school? What stats are the minimum to apply/ get in? High gpa + high dat? low gpa + high dat? high gpa + low dat? Thanks.

I'd just go on the internet to the schools you might want to apply and look at their acceptance stats. Most schools want above a 3.0 and above 17 on every section of the DAT. But if I were you, I'd get going on community service hours and dental observation experience because these aspects are just as important as your grades.

I'd say the average you need to shoot for would be 19+/3.5+. Competition is getting pretty serious. To be safe, I'd say 20+/3.7+. Yeah, you can get accepted with a 3.2 , but you're going to need a 22 or 23 on the DAT to back it up. Just do good in school and start shadowing now. Get those hours in and get involved in a community service club...habitat for humanity or big brothers/big sisters, etc. Good luck to you. :luck:

i would probably first use the SEARCH link

If you have a 3.6+ and a 20+ you will probably get in somewhere.

If you have a <3.0 and a <18 DAT, you probably won't get in (although I'm sure plenty of people with these stats have been accepted in the past).

If you are somewhere in the middle then it could go either way with your chances improving as your GPA, DAT scores, and other things on your app look better.

If you are just starting college you should make it your goal to be in the high GPA/high DAT score group so that you will end up taking the guess work out of your chances of getting in. I don't know of any people with a 3.8+ GPA, a 21+ DAT, an app that was turned in early, and that applied to multiple places that didn't eventually get in somewhere.
