Hi Folks.
I'm a non-trad that lurks here often. I have a bit of a dilemma that I'd like to get some help with. I recently volunteered to be the chair of a "diversity awareness" sub-committee at my school (Note - that's "high school" - I'm a teacher.) I most likely will be involved with developing programs and activities to help educate and involve the students. Our school is in an area with some serious diversity issues...
Now, I volunteered because I feel Very Strongly about the need for young people to be exposed to and learn from people in other backgrounds. No ulterior motives whatsoever. But after reflecting, I figured that this would probably be something to send to my schools in an "update" letter. I've already interviewed and am now just waiting. The problem is that we haven't really done anything and probably won't do anything with this committee until after the Xmas break. Should I send an update letter at all, and if so, how should I phrase it.
Thanks,
Anjani
