How is EFC given on the FAFSA?

Mine says 00135, but I highly doubt my parental contribution is only expected to be $135. So what does this number mean?

Much thanks.

If you're going to grad school, your EFC doesn't include parental contribution -- it's only your expected contribution. So, it's possible that it really is $135. Schools only request parental information for institutional aid -- it doesn't have any effect on federal aid.

Oh... that makes sense. I don't have much at all and next year, I won't have any income. Haha, typical broke med student.

Thanks!
