question about endoderm

this many seem like a stupid question
but why is the digestive lining derived from endoderm? my professors have told me that one way of looking at he digestive tract is that it is "outside" the body (if that makes any sense ..since it never comes in contact with your organs..) so it made sense that it was ectoderm..i know thats wrong can someone explain thanks!

I think of the endoderm as the "inside" derm. And the ectoderm as the "attractive" derm (things that attract people, like brain, nerves, skin,...etc) I know they're lame, but they work for me.😀
