I've been studying from the EK biology book and I really like it. I was a non-science (English and Psychology major) in college, so I only took intro biology courses but the book explains the content really well. So I was wondering, would using EK Bio alone for content along with the EK 1001 Bio passages be sufficient for preparing for the BS section? Or do you need to more details for Bio than what is covered in EK?

Thanks!

From what I've seen on my practice exams, yes.

BUT...

For the BS section, you also need a book for Ochem. I have the EK organic as well, it seems like it covers everything that's on the practice exams as well.

The only additional suggestion I would make is to dig a little deeper in molecular biology and genetics than the EK Bio covers.

Thanks! What books do you suggest for molecular biology and genetics? I agree that EK does not cover these sections adequately.

I can't really make a good suggestion on this one. I just finished Cell & Molecular bio and and took genetics a couple of years ago, so the info is still relatively fresh for me.

I would probably just use online resources, such as google, to find info on topics you don't feel comfortable with as they relate to Genetics and Molecular Bio.

Any feedback to report on the EK Biology book? I just bought it and will try to remember to post my opinion when the time comes. It had good reviews on Amazon so hopefully it is a decent prep book.

I used EK Bio (and EK organic also) for studying and did fine (12) on the BS section. However, I didn't have an extremely deep foundation/base for the immune system or genetics, so, like others have said, I might at least look at another book for those topics. I read through those sections in my friend's PR Biology book and thought it explained things more clearly.
