Hey guys, I'm a current applicant to med school right now. So back in my early years of undergrad, I got caught with weed in my dorm room and had to report to the residential director and take a quiz as my consequence. I didn't meet with the dean or anything, so I don't think this was an IA. There's no mention of this incident on my transcript, so I didn't report it in my application. However I'm kind of worried now that I should've reported it, as I don't want to be called in for lying. What do you recommend?

Even if on your record, this is minor.
For sure. I just don't want any adcoms to find out about it somehow, since I didn't report it, and it causing any issues for my applications.

Even if you didnt report it, this would at most rise to a request by dean for brief explanation. And that would simply what you wrote above (in proper English and tense)

"So back in my early years of undergrad, I got caught with weed in my dorm room and had to report to the residential director and take a quiz as my consequence. I didn't meet with the dean or anything, so I don't think this was an IA" followed by an apology for the oversight on leaving it off your application. This is low risk issue
Thanks for the clarification

CHECK WITH THE DEAN OF STUDENTS BEFORE APPLYING!
I made the mistake of not checking and it cost me an acceptance. I had gone to the hospital via ambulance from my dorm due to extreme intoxication my freshman year. I met with a residential life supervisor, went to a class and that's it. Didn't think anything of it and my top choice school required a Dean's Eval/Letter. Asked in the interview if I had any IAs, said nope and then they brought up this incident. Looked like I was being dishonest and was the only reason I wasn't accepted. Luckingly I had another interview there this year so hoping for better news. Don't make the same mistake I did! Check!
Edit: Realized you said you already applied. If it counts as an IA, I would recommend sending an update letter to all schools you applied to. That's what I did last year. Didn't help, but nonetheless.

Things like trespassing, underage drinking, possession of weed, and so on are pretty minor.

Usually violent or strict academic issues are much more problematic.

Adcoms ask me about mine every time I interview basically and my response is something along the lines of "I was being irresponsible and should have known better than to put myself in a situation which could jeopardize my future". I don't think it has made an impact on decisions.
