question about interview scheduling

When, on average, would you say is the earliest you can schedule an interview once you've received an interview offer?

Depends a lot on the school. I got called about 1 1/2--2 weeks in advance

One school called me on a Wednesday and asked if I could come that Friday (but since I already had an interview that day, I couldn't).

Anywhere from a week to over a month I would think is the standard now. Two years ago my firend called a school where she was on hold and asked about the interview possibility. They happen to have had a cancelation and she was there the next day. This was towards the end of the interview season.

Yeah, I got something similar from at least one school. They called/mailed me on Monday and asked me to come on Thursday or Friday, but I couldn't do it that early.
