Hey guys...quick question. I got a 69% on the Kaplan full length diagnostic but I'm not sure how that translates into a real USMLE score. Is it accurate to use the Kaplan score estimator for this or not, because the questions on the diagnostic I believe were easier than the ones on QBank. What do you guys think? Any idea what 69% on the diagnostic translates into?

Thanks!

I had the same question and kaplan officials had the following ans.:

"basic guidelines for the simulated exam are as follows:

65% = minimum pass level
70% = score around US average
75% or better = if you are aiming for a higher score.

You could take one of the NBME self-assessment exams, which tend to be rather accurate at predicting your score on the actual exam."

and hopefully those who have taken the simulation and actual exam can give us some more info...

If that was true there'd be a lot more people with average or lower than average scores. Seems like most people who get high 60's get around the 230's

:xf:I was told verbatim from the Kaplan Residency moderator (on their forum) that my score, a 72% was very strong. I also, felt that they had quite a few first order questions...and I have NO idea what the real one is like.

The correlation at my campus for this particular diag is .70-.77 and my 72% lands somewhere betweent 225-235. This matches up exactly with DIT's diagnostic.

I hope things pan out!😱

We just took it the other day as part of our kaplan course we have to take. If 65 is passing no way can 70 be national average since thats a 35 point jump in only 5% more correct. Im trying to also see what the score correlates to as i got a 58% as my baseline to start studying. going to take a NBME in like 2 weeks to really gauge where iam. Any clue on how to convert that to a 3 digit score

What DIT diagnostic are you talking about? I did the test at the end but it only told me the percent i got correct(70 something). where is the step 1 score correlation?

.* If you have scored less than 62% correct on this practice test, then you have about a 10% chance of not passing the USMLE if you take it within the next 2 weeks. You are not alone. About 5-10% of students score less than 62%, and 90% do pass the USMLE. If you were planning on taking the test in the next 2 weeks, I recommend for you to consider seeing your school’s advisor and so that you can come-up with a new study plan in order to insure that you will pass this test.

my school plots kaplan full length scores vs what the students really get. 69 % = about 226ish range. we're allowed to take it over a period of like 2 weeks at different days so if they took it late and youre taking it early you could do well above that. i got a 69% too 17 days before the real thing, by the time i took the DIT predictive exam 2 days before my actual exam, DIT said i was at 239.25 +/- 9.25 pts. (82% correct of the test). we'll see what i really get in a few more days....

Depending on the form: 63-69% = projected 223-239 according to kaptest.com
