Question about licensing for Florida Pharmacy Students

Hey,

I'm a pharm student in Chicago and graduating next year. I heard that FL is tough to get licensed in if you didn't attend a pharm school in FL. Is this true? However, do you know if I have to have them as my primary state and have IL as my secondary? Also, how many hours must you accumulate? In IL it's a total of 2000. So in IL, you need 2000 hrs, the law and Naplex exam. I know in other states you may have to take a counseling exam or something additional. Is this required in FL? I didn't see a listing for hours required or anything else additional. Just want to cover my bases so I don't screw it up.

I plan to practice in IL for a few years, but ultimately want to move back to be near my family.

I take it that I have to take two separate law exams, one for IL law and one for FL law, correct?

This has all been answered in a previous thread but here it is again. All the information is on that website. If you graduate from an accredited school after 2001, you do NOT need to submit intern hours. All you need is a PharmD to sit for the boards. Most states do not reciprocate with FL so you may need to take the Naplex again. You will definitely need to take the FL law exam. Again, it's all on the website.

I believe that many of the states do reciprocate with Florida now, especially since FL reciprocates back. I think this started just a few years ago. At least this is what I heard from students who graduated last may.

thanks, just wanted to make sure i understood everything so when i take my exams next year i'll have everything straight w/the state of FL!
