I only have access to my email account at my rotation site, and I can't open up any other websites because of our strict firewall at the pharmacy.

I'm just wondering at what time (on 3/18) an email will be sent out from the ASHP matching program and whether it'll contain detailed match results without having to log on to a website. I really don't want to be refreshing my email inbox every second from 12 noon EST and on...

Just wanted to see if any current residents remember about how they found out about their match results on the special day last year 🙂

I know my question's pathetic, but this waiting period and firewall thing are killing me 🙁

Thanks!

I did a search from last year's match day on this forum 😉 and found posts before noon. That'll give you an idea. I have a feeling the e-mails will arrive well before noon that day.

good thing I can check my e-mail from my Blackberry.

rounds on this service run from 10-1300 eastern time.

All of your replies have been very helpful! I hope I won't have to hit the refresh button too many times before I finally get my match results.

Good luck everyone!!!

You will get an email fairly early in the morning, and it will state:

You have matched with ________________

I no longer worry about the stupid firewall... Thank you so much!!!

So did most of you contact your program or did they contact you?

They contacted me first...I think it was a day or 2 later because our program director was out of town at the time! They should give you everyone's contact info and such.

Good luck!

Is that central time? I would guess yes based on your location but that may not necessarily be the server time that is being reported.

My rotation site has the residents practicing for Great Lakes stuff so all clinic is cancelled that day so just wondering what time I should be shooting for to wake up. 🙂

officially it gets posted noon eastern time, but I heard of 8/830 eastern time emails last year.

At least I can look like I'm looking at epocrates on my blackberry while checking e-mail on rounds...

Yes, central time

UNM. There was only one from there. We're the only 2 who ventured back east.

I think she interviewed the day of the snowstorm. We doubt she'll come here after that!

yeah, it was snowy. I was in Phoenix that day haha.
But I don't think the snow was much of a deterrent.

Haha...it is more of the fact that everyone here is crazy!

Congrats... I am kind of excited to see the results - make sure you guys post up about the results (match or match-not???)

Cannot wait to do this next year...

~above~

I'm not sure I'll be posting if I don't match (God forbid!). 😱

Good luck...you just signed up for a year of pain and suffering!

good luck everyone!! we'll all have our answers in couple hours! :xf:

well, in a totally unexpected turn in events, I apparently did not match.

We'll see what's up at noon, eastern time. I may go barf a little.

You'll be fine! There will still be great programs to choose from in the scramble. Not matching has no bearing on the quality of the program (or student 😉) Good luck!

Aww, I'm sorry njac!!! 🙁

I know it must be frustrating given everything you've put in. It's easy for all of us to say, but keep your chin up...I'm sure everything will turn out fine for you!

sorry to hear. just think about the scramble and take it with a grain of salt. a lot of those programs that are unmatched are unmatched for a reason. there could be issues with those programs. just be careful with them.

there are also times when positions open up even later where someone pullsout! it happens. if you need some advice let me know, i sit on the residency selection committee where i am.

Sorry to hear that... good luck with the scramble! And don't be hard on yourself, however tempting it may be to think "if only I said that" or "if only I did that". Some of the best students I have seen did not match. Some of the best residents I have seen went through scramble.

I know, I guess it's just what I get for having applied/interviewed/ranked nationally known and well respected programs and no "safety".

I never would've guessed I would be in this position. But here I am, with the people I know trying to assure me that "it must've been a mistake" and scrambling interviewers asking "can you think of any reason why you didn't match - you interview so well!"

I see that I'm the only one openly admitting to not matching. It's a bit cathartic to post about it I guess. I meant to go to our match day celebration anyway today, but I couldn't. I'm embarrassed, even if people say I shouldn't be. I know it's nothing personal. I applied at heavily, ridiculously competitive places.

dont think of it that way. dont go because the program is nationally ranked. go to the one that works best for you that you feel you are good fit for. if you don't it will be a longgggggggggggggg year. be glad you didnt match to those programs. you didnt match there for a reason. just move ahead in a positive way. dont feel embarassed you didn't match. there are a lot of people applying for whatever the spots may be.

If you need help finding a place, PM me....I know about a good number of programs and have friends in programs across the country.
