If i have the 3 pi system, //\. assume that the two // are a double bond and the . is a radical.

Your MO's would look like

Empty----------------LUMO
_ pi-3

Only 1 up arrow--------HOMO
_ pi-2

up/down arrows
_ pi-1

In this case i was just curious if the HOMO and LUMO are in the right spots. Since the HOMO is not completly filled, would it still be the homo? It has to be right? Homo is just the highest orbital where electrons are found, it doesnt necessarily have to be full, correct?

Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital
if it has one it still qualifies

Lowest Unoccupied Molecular Orbital

what you have looks right to me

Correct
You don't have to look too deep into the idea of HOMO-LUMO. Just know that Lewis acid-bases react because of HOMO-LUMO interaction, even so, that's taking it a bit too far. Other reactions include Diels Alder and pericyclic reactions (not covered on DAT). All of orgo is dependent on HOMO-LUMO interactions.

Yea I just had an orgo test yesterday and I confused myself andjust wanted to make sure.

Rocked the orgo test though, and go figure not one homo lumo questino on it. Didnt get any of the multiple choice questions wrong 🙂
