Hi,

I was wondering what people think of using NBEO pass rates as a way to judge how good a school is? Also, I've only found the pass rates of a few schools, is there a website or way to find out the pass rates of all the schools?

i really dont think that it is that accurate a way to pick a school....
1- with the introduction of a new board review called kmk; schools that have their students take it have gone up about 20% (this is based on last augusts scores)
2- the boards that you will take are different than the boards currently being taken so it is impossible to judge how well the schools prepare you to take the new version
3- if you go to a school that accepts higher gpa/oat score applicants overall and their scores are higher that doesnt mean that if you have high scores and go to a school with average scores significantly below yours you wont do fine... its basically just saying that the school has smarter/more hard working people and that is why they did better overall but individual smart/hardworking people at other schools will still be fine.

basically boards is kinda a crapshoot... if you put the time in and study and learn a lot of random stuff you will be fine... if not.. you prolly wont be 😉

A little thought about the "new" boards.

They aren't going to be completely "new".

🙂

NBEO told us in Boston that boards will be restructured, yes, but it won't be too different. All questions will be reviewed, and if they fit into this matrix they created (which will be available online very soon, I'll keep you updated on that) then the question is included. If it doesn't fit into the matrix then the question is tossed.

Therefore, we were led to believe that the scores should be about the same, if not better. Further, I think board scores are a great indication of the overall atmosphere of the school. Keep in mind low overall scores sometimes doesn't mean too too much... as long as YOU prepare well then YOU will pass. Maybe no one else in your class will, but at least you did! 🙂
