I was wondering when AAMC or a medical school states how many applicants there were for a given cycle, does that mean people who just submitted their primary or does it mean people who were "complete" (secondaries + LORs)? I remember reading that of Tulane's 8000 applications, 65% were actually complete? Does this hold true for the other schools?

I think the "total applicants" is those who submit at least a primary.

What do you mean? The total number of applicants is probably those who submit a primary (since I doubt the AAMC is going to go through and figure out how many people submit secondaries and whatnot), and you can't submit more than one primary in any given cycle.

Yeah, if you count the total number of complete secondary applications, you'll get something like 800,000 applicants. See if you have 40,000 unique individuals applying and submitting secondaries to 20 schools, you'd get 40,000 x 20 = 800,000. Therefore, AMCAS only counts submitted primary apps.
