I'm curious if anyone knows if biochemistry+biochem lab will substitute for the second organic chemistry lab that's required by most medical schools?...assuming 1 year of organic chemistry + labs means 1 year of lecture and two labs...?

I'd like to not have to take the second lab if it's avoidable...

Biochem will generally NOT substitute for ochem. Biochem is a separate requirement for many schools.

You must take TWO FULL SEMESTERS (one year) of organic chemistry lecture AND TWO FULL SEMESTERS (one year) of organic chemistry lab. (unless something radical has changed - individual schools may look upon this differently but this is the usual standard.)

Biochem is an extra requirement for many schools these days and is usually taken after a full year of ochem.

Depending on the college you should be able to substitute Organic Chemistry with Biochemistry.

Harvard lets you do it: "...A one semester course in organic chemistry which covers the relevant material supplemented by a semester course in biochemistry may substitute for the traditional year of organic chemistry..."

Probably, there are other schools that will let you do it as well.
