I was wondering if the optional essays should focus on one topic, or if it is ok to talk about several things. I've thought of several possible topics to write about, and its seems that others on SDN are talking about similar things. Would one of these topics stand out more than others, or can I talk about a couple of these topics?

1) I have a new activity that wasn't listed on AMCAS that I want to talk about.

2) I was also thinking about talking about why I want to go to that particular school.

3) I might also expand on the reasons I want to go into medicine.

4) Hobbies

HI..I've used the optional essays for all the things you wrote. Since I've been out of school for a while, I included a chronological essay on what I've done since. I also had new activities since AMCAS so I included that. If it was for a school that I really liked (i.e. top 3) then I also wrote about that. Bascially, anything that's not in AMCAS and you think can help/support your application, include it!
