Question about Part 1 score?

i took my part 1 exam in december and got my score in january.
my composite score is 87.
the score in the indivual sections is as below:-

1. Anatomy = 78
2. Micro/Bio = 83
3. Physiology = 76
4. DA = 73

I am just curious, if i need to have greater then 75 in every section, or i can go ahead and apply to dental colleges.

i will really appreciate if someone can share their experiences.

i think you have a very good chance in the next admission cycle, as majority of dental schools have passed their application deadline.

Will having 73 in DA (Which is less then 75) affect my chances of admission?

Common sense would lead me to believe that you need at least 75 in each section, in order for your results to even be considered for admission/interview (less than 75 is a fail).
I also am not sure I understand the new grading system. How can you have 78, 83, 76 and 73 BUT your composite score is higher than any of the individual sections ? In other words, why is it higher than your highest section ?

the individual scores for the new pattern is the the number of items taht were answered correct out of 100.for ex--ur 73 in da means u have marked 73 correct answers out of 100.same is the case with the rest.
so dont hesitate and apply to all the schools whose deadlines are still open.

U are very much ok since new pattern does not want individual subject score more than 75. It just want overall score of 75 to pass. U can see PASS must be written in ur score report.

This thing has chnged becoz old pattern had 4 separate sections for 4 subjects but in new pattern all questions are mixed and not separated subject-vise

hey NBDE part 1,dont worry abt that caz even i got 74 in Anatomy and i had no problems at all with applications,so dont worry and go ahead,good luck...

i think you have a great go as peoplein the new format are not scoring much higher as they used to be in old... god knows wats the reason behind?😕😕 and ada from 2007 will see only the composite score that should be above 75 . . . individual score does not matter.... don worry
i think all schools have passed their deadline just wait for 2009 applications...till then work on your cv...

I understand very well what you are saying.
Thats what my question is?

With the new format things have changed and i just wanted to make sure i wont have a problem in applying.

A lot of other folks have said i should be fine and i really appreciate your inputs.

Can someone provide me a link or any paper differentiating the new format with the old format?

hi..new pattern scoring is different..and many websites differentiate it from the old pattern..they specify that if you hav given the new pattern, then individual scores will not matter..and call them up to confirm..
