Hi, I wanted to know about the Diagnostic tests part of the Patient Note.
Should I just cram all the tests that I deem even slightly necessary, or should I just try to limit them to the relevelant tests for the 3 diagnoses I made and a few other really important ones?
For eg, First AID gives a large list of numerous tests in the PN for a lot of the cases; but FA is according to the old pattern when we were not restricted to just 3 main DDs.
To make myself more clear, if I have a patient with erectile dysfunction; should I:
Rectal Exam, Genital Exam
CBC, electrolytes, ESR
Blood Glucose, HbA1c, Cholesterol and Lipid levels
Serum Prolactin and TSH, Testosterone levels
PSA, TURP
X-Ray and MRI back
ECG
That is an exhaustive list that can cover pretty much any cause that comes into my mind at this moment. Is that the approach I should take, or should I try to be more concise to my 3 main Differentials?
