Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone of you got in with a low PCAT score?
I took the PCAT in June for the first time and I got a really bad PCAT score( 47 percentile🙁), I usually get decent scores in exams, I have 77 credit hours and I got all As in those classes except for 2 classes where I got Bs and those were not science classes. I have a 3.86 GPA and a 4.0 science GPA. did some community service, and volunteered at a hopital pharmacy.
I am not asking you guys if I have any chances of getting in but I was just wondering if any of you got in with a low PCAT??

Thank you for taking the time to read my post!

I've read some posts about people getting in with scores in the 70's and maybe even high 60's (composite). I think most schools have a minimum score. You have great marks so that would really help you. Why not just take the PCAT again?

I know of people who got into LIU with 17 Composite on the PCAT. 😡

I wish I could believe that. Trust me I want to believe it because although my GPA is solid my PCAT well......lets just say that it blows like a hooker on payday.:laugh: Sorry probably a bad example!!

It's true, these people had 3.6-4.0 range on their GPAs. So, they got the interview and probably impressed the interviewers with something else.
There is something wrong with a school whose graduates have a 4.0 and who get 17 on their PCAT. And something wrong with the schools that accept such applicants.

Thank you all for the feedbacks, to be honest I have never taken any standarized test before, I didn't take the SAT or ACT to get into college because i went to highschool abroad. So I got really nervous during the test, plus english is not my first language, I have only been speaking english for 4 years now, so that explains why i did so bad on the english part( verbal and comprehension sections). I have had a lot of people telling me to take it again in october, but i don't think my english will improve much in just 2 months. I'm applying to a couple of schools( some of them do not require the PCAT), I'm almost done with the application, I have been trying to e-submit it but pharmcas has been down for a couple of days now.
If I don't get into any school for 2009 i will take the PCAT again in January or june 09, hopefully the scores will be better next time 🙂.

REALLY? were there gpas like 4.0's? That's wayy too funny especially considering I'm applying there for 2009

Zrhim:

I think your english is good enough, but If you are going to take the PCAT again, I would suggest you to do the KAPLAN practice test before you do the PCAT. This is what I am going to do before I take mine.

here is the website:

good luck!

Probably why they decided to go with the PharmCAS system and are requiring PCAT. I was told by LIU advisors that from now on(2009), 50% is pretty much going to be the mininum composite score.

Do you really think they will accept a composite around 50%? Is that only if you have a Nobel Prize for inventing an artificial liver or something?

Well I think it would be safe to assume those doing the interviewing know exactly what they are looking. One low area does not mean they aren't a perfect candidate, just as having all areas in the high range. That's the purpose of having interviews. At least that's what I tell myself every night before I sleep....😴
