Hi, all! Peds PGY 3 here. I am taking boards in October and am starting to get into boards studying. I am scoring in the low-60s on my first year of PREP (about halfway through 2017's question bank) and it's the first PREP question bank that I have done. Wondering what type of percentage on PREP I should be aiming for at this point in my studying - May of PGY 3 year, and in my first pass through one of the years of the question bank. I searched the forums here and wasn't able to find information that pertained to specifically percentages ~4-5 months away from the exam and specifically for first pass through PREP; any input is valued!

I would also like to know what score in prep correlates with passing. In addition, are the prep questions a good study plan? I am finishing my 4th or 5th year of prep questions and wondering if I should continue to review those (will be done by residency end) or move on to another q-bank.

I think I hovered in the mid 60s in residency and finally hit over 70 right before the exam (in Sept). I passed with a comfortable margin. I'm not sure if there's a good correlation, though.

Approximately 70 is about right...

Improvements over time are generally a reflection of two things 1) increased knowledge in subject material 2) improved ability at just test taking.

If there are difficulties in improving ones score, it usually boils down to either of those issues, though generally, it is the latter more than the former.
