I'm currently a sophmore at UCB and last summer I decided to take both semesters of English at a community college in my hometown. The credits from the community college transfer to UCB, but I was wondering if medical schools would accept them since I took them at the CC instead of at my 4-year university? Furthermore, would it look bad at all that I took them at a CC instead of UCB?

It's fine, non-science courses taken at CC isnt a problem, even science courses wont really be a problem.
However.. i'd like to say that unless your taking those classes at the CC during summer session or before you went to the 4 year its not very wise to be taking classes at the CC. It'll be viewed as if your going to the CC to take a easier class. The following does not apply to California students btw, if your a cali student.

Since I'm a California student (University of California, Berkeley) it doesn't apply to me? As in, it won't transfer/look good that I took my English prereqs during summer at a CC while being a UC Berkeley student?

Some schools want prereqs (science or not) taken at four year schools so look into it b4 you sign up, or take additional english courses at 4yr school.

well i say that it wouldnt apply to cali students because of there being a major issue's and not enough spaces for people to take there classes. So more or less people are being forced to take classes at CC's to graduate in 4 years.
I'm not very sure that Berkley is highly effected, but most of the system of california is bankrupt and what not.

Because of the IGETC (or whatever, it's been awhile), the CC that are accepted as transferable to a UC, are understood to be at the same level as at a UC. CCs have to maintain this standard in order to keep that agreement.
