Nothing has really changed, so a 2012 DAT book should be fine. Make sure to use multiple resources to study. This book alone won't give you a good score.
I have never done a Kaplan review, so I am not sure. I don't think classes like that are necessary. Many people get 21+ without them. Keep in mind you will likely spend a few grand on application fees later
