How does dental licensure work in PR? I know that the University of PR school of Dentistry is an acred. program, but Puerto Rico is not a US state only a territory.. They even played against the US in the Olympics! Does PR have their own licensure boards, or do they accept southeastern regionals, etc? What about licesure by credentials? If you have a license in a US state will PR accept that.. and visa versa? Can you get a license in a US state if you have a license in PR?

i think you should just call the PR school. don't worry about the language...contrary to what most people believe, many Puerto Ricans can speak English. just ask to speak with someone who knows English.

buena suerte!

You can study in PR and get licenced w/o any problem in any of the 50 states. And viceversa.

Exactly. There aren't any problems. Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands (and Washington D.C. as well!) all recognize the NBDE exams, of course.

Puerto Rico does have its own licensing board, the Puerto Rico Board of Dental Examiners, but I believe they accept US regional exams.

So.. if you take a regional board exam in the US you can practice in the virgin islands and puerto rico without taking additional exams? What about the other way around.. what if you have a license in Puerto rico or virgin islands, can you then get dental licensure in other states by creditials?

Thanks for clearing that up.. 😎 Seriously, does anyone have any info on this?

Are courses at the Univ. of Puerto Rico dental school taught in Spanish or English ?

If u graduate from this school, what do u need to do to practice in the 50 U.S. states & Canada ?

I spoke to a lady in admissions at the D-school in Puerto Rico, and the lady told me not to apply if I have not at least taken some spanish classes. she also said that profs. lecture in both English and Spanish, so that it would be difficult for a non spanish speaker to understand what is going on in lectures.
