Ok so I am a texas resident on 4 waitlists for all texas school. Its getting late so i was wondering if i should consider re applying? if so could i use the same letters and essays? i can probably get one more letter. i had a 3.7 gpa and 34 mcat from a top 15 school, couple years of research, and 6 years of volunteering for the record. should i retake the mcat? really in a pickle here. any advice appreciated!

thanks

Your MCAT and GPA seem pretty all right to me. Maybe something else on your application sucks (like those letters and essays you want to reuse... just saying).

ok maybe the letters but i got my essays checked by a lot of people....hmmm letters make that much of a difference? i dont think mine are all out of the ordinary

Of course you should consider reapplying if you want to be a doctor...you have excellent stats and it sounds like you're a very competitive applicant. I'm in a similar boat. I'm going to add two new letters and I've begun the process of completely rewriting everything.

3.7/34 in Texas usually leads to an acceptance(very often multiple acceptances). When it doesnt the interview is often the problematic area. Did you get IIs and how do you think they went?

If by chance you didnt even get IIs, that indicates something's off. You have to ask yourself where you think your weaknesses might be.

Using the same essays is just asking for the same result next cyle

got 4 II and am on 4 waitlists. Interviews went fine. I followed up with them and got positive responses. I think my issue was i got interviews from top texas schools like baylor and UTSW but not from the lower tiered schools. maybe my stats placed me out for low end schools. i sent in multiple updates. I dont think my application is much better so im still holding on hope for these waitlists.

honestly i think if i got interviews from a&m or texas tech i would have gotten in. how do i attract the lower end schools if i have to reapply?

Being a Texan with your stats and going 0-4 in interviews means they didn't go as well as you think.

got good feedback from my mock interviews but maybe you are right...

how much will a letter of intent help me?

Did you apply early this cycle? If everything else was good and you got interviews but only ended up on waitlists, maybe you applied too late.
