I met with one of the people writing a rec letter for me, and we talked a bit about what she would write in my rec letter and which core competencies she thinks she could talk about, so overall, it should be pretty good. She mentioned that she tends to write a bit humorously in her rec letters, and I said that was fine. Would that be looked down upon by adcoms (writing a letter humorously)? Just curious if that matters or if the actual content of the letter (which should be good) is what really matters. Thanks for any advice!

So has she written letters of evaluation for medical schools? Show her the AAMC brochure with LOE guidance to make sure she focuses on the qualities that make you a solid physician.

I don't mind a little humor, but if she is extremely confident that she can balance her style with the general expectations of what the LOE should say, then it shouldn't be a problem.
