So I'm scheduled to retake the DAT mid July but am going to send out my application June 4th. Do I need to specify that I'm re-writing?
Not that I´m aware of. They´re going to automatically get the new scores once they´re verified and imported to AADSAS, and finally updated with schools.
Will schools still look at my application/ consider me for interview before I get my new DAT scores in?
Since you should already have a set of DAT scores in your application (my assumption since you´re ¨retaking¨), then yes they´ll look at and consider your application.
Would it be possible to not specify that I'm re-writing and then have my DAT scores uploaded after I sit the exams?
I don´t believe you have any control over this. There is one caveat, expensive, but would do what you want. When you pick which schools you want your DAT scores to go to, you could just not pick any, then later submit a request(s) for score reports to be sent out to such and such schools. This is probably a bad idea for several reasons: cost of submitting additional scores to schools, additional time for them to get scores (possibly a big dealy), and then that regardless of what you do your scores will automatically be imported to your application anyway (not sure if schools can see these if they were indicated for receiving scores previously).
Sorry for the barrage of questions. I just talked to the Dean of admissions at a school I interviewed at and he told me that my DAT scores were fine and that I wouldn't need to retake. Just to apply earlier because I didn't get all my stuff in until late. I'm afraid that this new DAT is going to delay my application or possibly hinder it! 😕
