Do you think its productive if I'm a reviewer for a medical journal during my MS 3 or MS 4 years or more like a proof-reader on how to improve an article before its published...would it be similar to doing research if I just review multiple articles...do you think it is worth the time and effort...I mean I can do it for each rotation, lets say I'm in IM or Cardio (I'd review Cardio journal articles written and critically evaluate them)? I'm not sure but right now I like ophthalmology (DO pathway since its probably impossible for me to get accepted in an MD ophthalmology program)...would that work or would I have to actually do research in that field or just any research...does it also matter if you get published or not...

I'm not sure how you'd go about becoming a reviewer for a medical journal. Those spots are typically given to established physicians/scientists with strong research backgrounds. How could a med student with little or no research experience review journal articles? Critical evaluation of research requires some degree of expertise. Either I don't understand your question or you've been offered a spot from a disreputable journal.

I agree. I'm a 4th year about to graduate and I don't understand the majority of what is said in medical journals so I don't know how you would be able to critically evaluate a journal article. Now maybe if you wanted to provide your expertise to the "medical" articles in Glamour or Cosmo you could do that.
