Question about step 2

A friend of mine asked me to post this question to you all. She is a DO student and received a 595 on her COMLEX. Should she take step 2 early enough for programs to see her step 2 score? Also is PM and R relatively COMLEX friendly, or will USMLE be important for her to take also?

More program-dependent than anything. It is unlikely to hurt her to take the USMLE. She could contact prospective programs and see what the program directors recommend.

I personally recommend USMLE 1 and 2 for DO's, I'm a DO, it's what I did. That being said many programs in PM&R are very DO friendly. Step 3 not necessary.

I didn't respond because I'm not a DO and I don't know if 595 is a good or bad score. There are many DO friendly PM&R residencies (my class was 3 MD's and 3 DO's) and the DO's could make special arangements to perform osteopathic manipulations in their continuity clinics.

Each program should be pretty clear if they require comlex or USMLE right on their website, or ask program coordinator.
