question about subspecialties

Hi, I am a soon to be a dental student, and some of my friends are going to med schools. I was just wondering. what percentage of med students actually match into well-compensated subspecialties or fellowships? For dental students, i think only 20% of the graduates get to be the specialists, and I heard the ortho is the most competitive one. How does it work in medical school?
