Position Swap Question about swapping residencies..?

Hi all I'm an incoming PGY1 resident and wondering about swapping residencies.. I haven't signed a contract yet, but how does swapping work? If we matched or soaped technically that is a binding commitment, so how are you able to 'swap' residencies with someone else?

i have this same question. I was told by my medical school that i could not and my only option to switch specialties for next year was to reapply for the match.
