hello everyone,

I recently found out that for Western I have to complete Chem 464 and Bio 380 to fulfill the bio chem pre-req. I have Chem 464 planned/in progress for Fall 09. However, I can not take Bio 380 since I don't have the pre-req for the course. will I be able to complete the Bio 380 or any other Genral Ed. Course work that i may need by the end of Spring 2010 and list them in PharmCas as planned/ in progress?
According to the PharmCas instructions, :"Enter college courses in progress or planned through the completion of the Summer 2010 term."

can someone verify this pease?

thank you in advance

lol i think you know best whether you can complete the 380 by Spring 2010. I would put 380 as a planned/in progress in the time being, just so you'll qualify as a evaluate-able applicant. and hustle to do what you need to do to satisfy the pre-req(s).

So pharmcas will let me update course work from spring 2010? that was actually my question. otherwise I will be glad to have the opportunity to take Bio 380 or any other course that I may be missing during spring or summer 2010 ... I'm just not sure if I can list spring and summer 2010 for planned/ in progress??? will those courses be acceptable?

PharmCAS has a fall update. I forget the exact dates it is available, but I know that info is on their website. During that time you can update the grades you received for fall courses and change any planned courses. Make sure Western allows you to take courses in the summer before you would start pharm school. A lot of schools want you to finish all pre-reqs in the spring semester. I hope that answers your question as I'm a little confused about what you are asking.

Is that Bio, Anatomy and Physio? Also the Fall Academic update on Pharmcas is December I think.

I don't think Western allows you to take any courses beyond Spring 2010, so you should plan out your schedule to make sure that you'll have completed them by then. Academic Update for Pharmcas only opens til February 2010, so I assume that the courses completed in Spring will have to have transcripts sent directly to Western.

Bio 380 is cell bio, it has a pre req that im taking over fall, then planning to take 380 in spring.. but not sure if i can list that as planned...Can I call western for this question ?

I am not sure if this relevant but Western requires 2 semesters of BioChem. If you take it at UCLA you have to take 3 classes (3 qrts). If want to fulfill the same biochem requirement you can take it at a community college like College of the Canyons and just take one course. If you want to save some time and money you might want to search schools that fit the requirement by just taking one course. Just a heads up. Since I wasted money at UCLA to fulfill the whole year of BIOchem when I could have taken it elsewhere.

good luck . 🙂
