Question about transferring

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I want to transfer to a med school in another state, but they want me to take my USMLE step 1 at the end of my second year. The school that I am at has time off from class for step 1 at the end of my third year, and nothing my second year.

Should I take step 1 at the end of my second year regardless of the way the curriculum and study breaks are set up?

Or should I do three years at my current school, and then transfer in to do another two years? They only accept transfers into the third year.

What should I do? Thanks for your help.

This probably isn't the right place to ask this... try asking in the med student forums.

But... WHY WOULD YOU PUT YOURSELF THROUGH YEAR III CLERKSHIP TWICE!!!!!

What are your motivations for switching med schools? I'd stick it through at your current school, grab the degree and then do residency in the vicinity of this "new school" you're looking to attend.

Uhhh.. Stick it out for two more years? What's the reason you want to transfer?
