So when writing secondaries, I was wondering if it's okay to use abbreviations right off the bat for certain things that I've seen used on the school's website ....

i.e AOC (area of concentration), PBL/TBL (Problem-based/team-based learning), SIM Center (Simulation Center).

Again, these were all used by the school on their website, but I'm not sure it's safe to assume the person reading my secondaries will know what I'm referring to. I know we should always try to use the full thing before the abbreviation, but if we're very, very tight on character/word count, what do you think?

IMO, don't use AOC, but the others are fine.

You're always helping everywhere on the page aren't you haha. Really do appreciate you!

What are your thoughts on school abbreviations as well? I've jumped into just using UVA, Columbia, Feinberg, UPSOM (for Pittsburgh), etc. because either the school used them before on their website or the name is implicit?

If the school uses an abbreviated term for itself on the website or the Secondary, then using it in essays is acceptable.
