Hey guys,

sorry if this question has already been answered, but I couldn't find a thread that addressed my particular question.

So I submitted my application in mid-july and it has not been verified yet. I just got my MCAT scores and they were quite abysmal (<30). My grades are OK but I am thinking of taking a year off and earning some money since my finances are going down the drain and I don't have enough money to pay for secondaries. Since I haven't received and secondaries and my application hasn't been verified, would I be considered a re-applicant if I applied next year? Also, if my some stroke of luck i was admitted this year, could I defer my acceptance?

Thanks in advance!

You won't be a reapplicant next year if you withdraw before you're verified. With your situation it sounds like withdrawing is the way to go.

Some schools don't consider deferrals, some are very open to them (mostly those that tend to over-admit), and a lot allow it only under certain circumstances. The MSAR will tell you which allow it, but you'll probably have to call schools to find out their exact policy.
