Hi,

I was wondering if a noise cancelling headset is provided at all test centers.

Also for the writing section, would it be ok to write in the first person or is it better to write it like a formal essay.

Thanks in advance

I have no idea for your second question but noise cancelling headsets are provided at every Prometric Site.

Do you happen to know how effective noise cancelling headsets are? I would hate to hear somebody typing while I'm taking a verbal.

I feel your pain ...which is why come test day, I'll be arriving 1 hour earlier than everyone else lol. A friend who took the MCAT near me said he didn't hear any typing using the head set. I could imagine though that they wouldn't invest in $300 noise-cancelling headphones so they won't do THAT much justice lol. Anyways, ...I plan on bringing ear plugs (still in bag) and I'm going to try to see if the proctor will let me put them on with the headphones. It's worth a try ...lol.

As stated in MCAT essentials[the instructions on the AAMC website], you will be allowed to use earplugs provided they are in there original packaging.

haha "noise canceling headsets"

The term makes you think of fancy BOSE type noise canceling headsets which use actual electronics to actively cancel noise. I don't know about anywhere else, but if you take it at Harrisburg PA you get something like this instead
