Thank you all. =)

Dude. You have 16 interviews in September. As long as you don't kick your feet up on your interviewer's desk, you'll be fine.

The very fact that you thought posting this thread was in any way a good idea -- for you or anyone else on the planet earth -- indicates that you are likely to blow most, if not all, of the interviews.

I would start planning for next cycle by joining a 12-step process: "How not to be a Super Douchebag."

Your welcome.

Hi guys,

First, the knowledge and insights I have gained in the past months since joining SDN have been invaluable and I would like to thank everyone for contributing to my success thus far. I certainly understand some people are still waiting for their first invitation and have tried to advise others as much as possible.

But, I would feel terrible if I got this far and did not get in. Does anyone have any constructive advice?

be actually interested in each individual school and take it one at a time? idk

Yeah, I would def call troll, except he went to all that trouble to figure those average chances and all. That's time consuming. Idiotic, but time consuming nevertheless.

So I'm gonna stick with my original assessment of "douchebag" until evidence comes to my attention to the contrary.

Hmmm, maybe too harsh? OK, how about "Class A Tool?"

I want to be fair after all. We learn that second year.

Really? So who told you to make up a totally worthless spreadsheet to calculate your chances of acceptance? Very toolish, but most importantly, meaningless.

Start working on those "interpersonal" skills you have been meaning to get to...do some mock interviews...read a book on interview skills...join Toastmasters...

hehe, I've also grown accustomed to the demeaning sarcasm, but have found about 1/3 posts to be helpful. 🙂

yeah, but you think Kanye West has talent. And that is also very wrong.

He does have obvious talent as a producer and songwriter, even if Obama were correct in his characterization of him (if anyone heard the audio clip on tmz.com).

Kanye West is one of the most talented musicians of the 21st century, one of the best hip hop producers ever, and one of the hottest rappers at the moment. Every song he touches turns into a hit - how can you call that not talented?

Anyone who doesn't think he deserves respect for his music is really tasteless when it comes to rap.

As for the Taylor Swift incident, people are just overreacting because it was Taylor swift. He did the exact same thing to Justice in the European MTV VMAs. It's Kanye being Kanye, and Taylor already accepted his apology. In fact, he did her a huge favor. She has NEVER had nearly as much media coverage or publicity as she does right now thanks to Kanye.

I just did something i thought i would never do: SDN research. I know, I have sunk very low.

This guy has about 123 posts and almost all of them -- many opened by HIM -- have to do with how man interviews people have. He sets up polls and asks questions just so he can put out there that he has 16 interviews.

Totally and completely pathetic.

I have been checking SDN on and off for a couple of years now, and this guy may be the most annoying ever. Wow, that is saying a lot.

And he is not a troll -- if only he were.

And dude, the posts that "attack" you are not "sarcasm," they are direct criticisms. Look it up.

if you dont have talent when you are among the best in the field at something and pull in something like $40 million dollars a year (directly out of the pockets of the consumer, the general public) then I'm not sure what the definition of talent is. he provides something for the modern day market.

its like everyone expects people from inner-cities to get voice lessons and learn how to play few different instruments. get the **** out of here, not everyone is in the same shoes, some people make the best out of what they have

I am totally the type to make that kind of meaningless spreadsheet so I can relate there. Besides the sarcasm, it seems like other people have given so good advice. Don't be cocky, but be confident. Don't be awkward or shy but a little modesty is good. Research each school before the interview. And either practice with a friend or film yourself answering interview questions, ideally both. Filming yourself is the best way to get objective feedback on how you actually come across. Read common interview question lists (there are some on SDN) and be prepared for any of them, but also don't expect to be able to give a canned answer to every question.

good luck even though it sounds like you probably won't need it =)

anyway,

have u attended any of your interviews yet?

The fact that you make threads like this indicates to me that you are a d-bag, which is exactly what interviewers are trying to weed out. That, or you have no common sense/people skills, which is also frowned upon by interviewers.

So despite your 16 interviews, your chances don't look great.

OP, what's your stat like and where do you have interviews at? if I may ask 16 interview invites sounds amazing!

Thank you very much, MCATBear! 🙂

And sorry to anyone I have offended. I actually only started one other thread on this topic, which was the poll. I even applied to AACOMAS (application not yet verified) for DO schools, because I wasn't sure if I would get even one interview. I've taken nothing for granted, but probably have erred on the paranoid side.

Anyway, good luck to all applying this cycle! 🙂

Only if interviews were based on who we really are and not who we sound like on paper. You need to relax and stop dbaggin it up.

You shouldn't edit the title and content of the thread to reflect that you no longer need help. You may not be the only one with that question, and now other members who may have the same question won't be able to reference this thread for help.

We're really not trying to be mean here; just don't worry about it at this point and feel confident that the traits that got your 16 interviews in the first place will be more than enough to get you at least one acceptance (and they will).

I honestly don't understand why people get offended by threads like the OP's. SDN is a place for neurotic premeds who want advice (legitimate or not). If we weren't neurotic or didn't want some form of advice or validatation/acknowledgement of our accomplishments, most of us wouldn't bother creating a screen name to post ish. We could simply read the posts of others without posting ourselves.

I do have a problem with people who call out other people on anonymous internet forums (or fora, whatevs). The OP simply asked for advice. If you felt he was doubebagging it all you could have done was ignore his thread and move on quitely to the next one. Rather what most of us do in instances like this one is :1) log in (which takes effort), 2)click on "post reply" and 3) diss the OP or make sarcastic comments. When you make such comments aren't you also a doucebag? Aren't you insecure too? or wait! You're jealous that the OP has 16 interviews?

My point is, if you feel that the OP was being a tool you could simply have ignored him rather than lambaste him on an anonymous internet forum. It's funny how most of the people on here will act like angels around the OP in real life. As you can tell I also hate backbitters. Most of us here are internet gangsters.

You guys simply need to chill the **** out and leave the OP alone.

OP you are doing really and I hope you get into the school of your dreams,

I can all him not talented because I think his music sucks. The one and only song I liked was Through the Wire and that was back when he was somewhat humbled and appreciative of his status as a living human. I honestly don't understand how he sells so much. I have quite an eccentric taste when it comes to music and I love all different genres but I generally cannot tolerate stuff like Kayne, Lil Wayne, Drake, etc. Its like listening to a monotone spelling bee while some toddlers bang on some pots and pans in the background. And I love how he rhymes words with the same word. So original and creative. 🙄

He doesn't deserve respect because he doesnt give respect. Its a two way street and what goes around, comes around.

So because its Kayne being Kayne everything is okay? Maybe someone else should go Kayne on Kayne for awhile and see how he likes it. Didnt he punch Perez Hilton once too? Seems like he's got pretty thin skin for being all high and mighty (much like yourself, shindotp, its no wonder you like him).

I hated Kanye waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before Taylor Swift. I think I started hated him when he said he has a god like status and that he is the best rapper of all time. So not true. I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty spork than listen to his ****. All those celebrities calling him out was awesome. He needed to be re-humbled. And probably again in again in another year or so. Furthermore, He only apologized for political reasons, not because he meant it.

Taylor won the VMA (and all her other awards) on her own. She needed no help from Kanye. Period.

Nice try though. 🙂

Dang, that tells me a lot about the (now edited) question in the original post.

Oh, and I hate all hip hop/rap music.

It takes a big man to grab a microphone from a (cute) 19 year old girl. Ok, she has weird eyebrows, but still.

Thank you for comparing me to Kanye (spelled "Kanye" and not "Kayne") - that's a HUGE compliment to me!

I never said Kanye helped Taylor win a music video award (wow, such an honor?). I never said Kanye being Kanye makes everything okay. I never said she needed help from Kanye.

Good job debunking all the points that I didn't make 👍

What is your logic behind respect being a two way street? You don't respect someone unless you know that he or she is respectful to others? That's ******ed, then how do you know whether or not you can respect the last nobel prize winners? I guess you can't respect Douglas MacArthur either because he was known to be disrespectful, even though he was one of the greatest generals in American history. Respect is not a freaking two way street - that's corny and just plain wrong.

i dont know man, im a 22 year old from new york city. for me, humility is shown in work ethic and achievement, especially in the grave economy. so i see kanye as a humble dude in his own way. we live in our own world so whats the big deal. VMAs really wouldnt have been relevant, he just made that thing more entertaining.
