Sorry for posting this to the entire board but I thought others might be interested. To what address did your lawyer mail your legal complaint? I am having my lawyer mail a letter and will file a lawsuit in the coming weeks if my MCAT score is not electronically transmitted to all of my designated schools. I will keep you updated...

my lawyer is writing one too. amy could you please post that address. thank you.

Go, CU & bobcat!!! 😀

you guys have lawyers? man, i am soooo unsophisticated.

pre-hawk doc,

exactly what I was thinking 🙂 hahaha

Come on everyone- lawyers? Have we become so sue-happy that just because a few people get lucky, and the vast majority gets f**cked, we need to sue? Do you really think amcas is trying to screw up your chances of getting into medical school? Of course not- they screwed up, realized it and are scrambling. Wouldn't YOU want the benefit of teh doubt if the same happened to you (i'm sure it has in some form or another)? Just FYI, i submitted 2nd or 3rd (forgot exact, but the first three days) of july, and so far nothing. I called, the lady said they were working on it, and i said fine. I've gotten interviews, but suing is going too far I think. Let's keep our wits about us --Trek

Some people feel that AMCAS should actually do what it's contractually obligated to do in some sort of reasonable timeframe. There are people on this board whose schools have told them that they will only look at verified AMCAS MCAT scores and since those are not forthcoming, they may not get considered in this application cycle. If I were in that situation, I would certainly have a lawyer fire off a letter. Sometimes a letter from a lawyer works such wonders that you really don't have to sue. Just the thought of a suit somehow gets the incompetents moving. It's unfortunate, but the squeaky wheel does get the grease. Plus I'm pretty sure things will improve for all of us if AMCAS gets the idea that they're about to be hauled into court (I'd be really surprised if they haven't been already). So give these two a break. They're only doing what they feel they have to do, and I say more power to them. 🙂

Trek: I understand what you're saying, but I think you would feel differently if this happened to you (copy of what I posted on the "You are Not going to Believe this" Thread:

"{Excessive venting to follow:}

This has gone far enough! I released my scores *repeatedly* over 4 freakin' months ago and barely any of the schools I'm applying to have received them.

I got a letter from one of the schools saying that since they have no record of my MCAT scores:

a) not received from MCAT office
b) the glitch on AMCAS has erased my MCAT scores from my application

that I am no longer eligible for admission this cycle at their school! I have no problem with a rejection if it is based on my credentials. I have a HUGE problem with a rejection because of yet another AMCAS $#%@ up. AAH! 😡 {End Vent}

I have contacted the school and they won't reopen my file until they get Official scores, so the fax/mail a copy is not an option. I have released my scores YET AGAIN, but we all know how promptly AMCAS deals with situations like these. I'll be lucky if the scores get their by the time I retire." 🙁 😡

I paid for a service (quite a bit, mind you). That service has not been provided in the alotted amount of time (or any time for that matter). It has now resulted in serious consequences for my future medical career. Sounds like viable evidence for a law suit to me... but then again, I'm no lawyer.

The trouble is, that I am don't have money for AMCAS, let alone a lawyer! So that idea will have to wait, but I do feel that I have been given the royal shaft. 😡 🙁

You mean as opposed to SCAMCAS? 😀

CU & bobcat, you can find that address in the thread entitled "Letter to the President of AMCAS." (It's Jordan Cohen, and he's actually the president of AAMC). Although I'm just assuming that's where Amy Beth sent her letter, so you might want to wait for her reply.

I noticed that too. Sorry for the confusion-- thinking it 2 worlds (AAMC vs. AMCAS) and the I think faster than I type. Although, I didn't do it in my above post so I don't know why you thought to bring it up. 😕 Anyway, I'll try to type slower in the future to minimize confusion and me looking like an idiot. 🙂

I agree that the threat of legal action may force them to get things together. I have been very patient because I understood that we are all in the same boat. We are not all in the same boat anymore. There are people who applied at the end of August who have been verified. I called and talked to a supervisor two weeks ago about the fact that they are not going in order and he "assured" me that it would be addressed immediately. Of course we all know it hasn't. This isn't a friendly service they're providing, I busted my ass working to pay for this.

Woah, feels good to vent a little 😉

I think you all, except Trek of course, hit the nail on the head. We are not all in the same boat. Some stellar applicants can afford to wait for things to fix themselves. I know that I want to be considered at all of my schools, and I made my selections based on my own candidacy. Some of my schools have flat out told me that I won't be looked at until my file is verified..and these are not the top schools! I do feel that AMCAS is reducing my chances of sucess in this application cycle.
You know Trek, I have been waiting over 3 months, patiently mind you..but at some point you have stop waiting for divine intervention and take matters into your own hands. There are people out there (with numbers/files) similar to mine with WAY more interviews then myself. I've worked hard to get to this point..and I am not going to let some over-priced, incompetent beauracracy ruin my chances! How many of us do you think can afford to reapply? Not many I bet you! I know I can't!

I have given AMCAS the benefit of the doubt for three months..how much longer should I wait? In any job..you have a review period of 3months..after that if you're not up to it..you are out! We need to apply this ideology to AMCAS too.

I will be taking legal action too, if I am not verified by the end of this week. No..I am not sue-happy..just sick and tired of this crap! AMCAS needs to be put under the spotlight for their actions.

nullpraying4MD, why do you always call them AAMCAS?

Andrew: why do you always focus on the inconsequential details? Frankly..sometimes your comments strike me as rather condescending. 🙄

Well..could just be me!
