I am supposed to go for my CVS pre-employment screening in a few days and a classmate told me they do a blood test? I am terrible at getting blood drawn and faint every time. I would much much rather pee in a cup or have them take my hair sample. I know it's something I need to get over, but I haven't been able to yet. It's a phobia. ick.

For me it was a simple pee test (summer intern). I also hate having blood drawn, although I don't faint.

I'm going to say the same as the rest.

It's a urine test.

I haven't done it in years,

But I think you'll know as the date nears.

If you are going to be health professional, you will get over your needle phobia because you will be getting needles stuck in you a lot (at least annually during school). I have only had to have one actual blood test so far, though (not for CVS).

False. I give blood a few times per year and I am always a baby about it.

Admittedly, I probably am not quite as bad as I was the very first time, but I still have a bad reaction to the sight of needles and hate the experience of getting shots/having blood drawn. I get nausea/lightheaded every time too, I would give more often if it wasn't for that.

Edit: Not sure how I will feel when I am the one giving the shot. I doubt it will bother me.

Patient: Will this hurt?
Me: Me? No, not at all.

Okay, well it worked for me. I have never had so many needles stuck in me in my whole life as I have had in the last three years. I still don't necessarily enjoy needles, but I used to feel like I was going to pass out before Dr's appointments. Now I really don't care either way - stick the needle in me and get it over with.
