I have a question for current students attending the UF College of Pharmacy. Has anybody had experiencing switching campuses from the one they were originally assigned? I received an interview at the St. Pete campus (and was told this is where I would attend if accepted). However, I would really much rather attend the Gainesville campus.

Has anybody successfully changed? Thanks for the help!

I know several people who successfully switched campuses during the curriculum. These transitions were largely dictated by life circumstances as opposed to personal preference. If you would prefer the Gainesville campus, why are you not interviewing there?

i did a residency in gainesville and *&**^&^ hated that city....but if your young and love the college crowd you will like it. Better faculty.

I wish I was interviewing there! It was my first choice on the campus ranking form. All of my application materials were in early, I really have no idea why they put me at St. Pete..

Thanks for the input though!

STFU, what do you know? Married people can't comment on college towns.

They randomize you to a campus. I went to St. Pete and had classmates who did all their undergrad work in Gainesville and got assigned to St. Pete. In the end, they loved their campus and didn't want to leave. It's the same at Orlando and Jax, too. It's a smaller group and you become more close knit.

You see the same lectures and take the exact same exams. All the students in Gainesville watch videos, too. The professors will come to the distances campuses for visits. It's pretty funny because people treat them like stars from a video.

I attended all lectures live, no video schooling for me.

Switching campuses seems to need a pretty good reason, like getting married and having to move... or having a baby and needing to be closer to family.

I think you'll prefer a distant campus anyways. Mostly everone in Gainesville watches the lectures online once the novelty of going to class wears off the first week or two. Distant campuses tend to be more closer knit too. You'll know everyone in your class (~50 people) vs. the 150 person class in GVL.

Thanks for the responses! I'm sure the St. Pete campus is great as well, after all it is all UF =) I do have personal reasons for wanting to stay in the Gainesville area. I was just trying to see if it has been done before. Thanks everyone.

I know this is a somewhat belated respons, but I started out at the St Pete campus and transferred to Gainesville after my 1st year. Both campuses are great to be honest, and the distance campuses are more tight knit as others have mentioned. I would recommend attending the St Pete campus at least for a year, and if you still want to transfer then petition the admissions committee. The St Pete campus really is a great campus though - and it has a beach!
