question for UIC applicants

hey fatmike, well I got that hold email for a couple of months but the acceptance I received was an outright acceptance as I perceive it. After I talked to the admissions counselor, he told me that the waitlist is created end of this month and will be ranked, this was the last committee meeting for the "regular" acceptances. Supposedly he also said not everyone that interviews and gets hold makes the waitlist, but I don't know how much I believe that. Now after the waitlist is created, they will be pulling from there. Hope this helps.

Well...i guess UIC does accept people off the "no decision" list each month....hey anxiousmed...congrats on your acceptance....my mailbox was empty today....oh well...i've pretty much lost hopes for UIC....

hey guys....i got the "no decision" email from UIC today.

just wondering...is there anyone in here (SDN) who was in our situation last year? ie...got interview from uic and got the same "no decision" emails....if so....what happened to them at teh end? did they end up gettin accepted/rejected?

I got the same e-mail today as well.

calbears84, I think that there is still a decent chance if we get on the waitlist because they traditionally have lots of movement. From what I've dug up on UIC here on SDN, there is lots of movement between the end of May and throughout June, as other people on other waitlists get in elsewhere.

What I'm confused about is that the e-mail says the adcom will complete its work in June 2003, yet anxiousmed was told that the ranking of the waitlist would begin right about now. Since the waitlist gets ranked, wouldn't the adcom be finished with their work once its ranked, which is supposedly in early May and not June?

hey guys, I think they make their ranking near the end of this month and its not an official waitlist till the beginning of June since they send a letter out stating what quartile you're in (I guess mailing those letters out is the "work" left for june). My best friend got in off the wait list last July and the big bad SDNer IMTIAZ who is a m1 there also got in off the waitlist last year...so it moves....hang in there i think it will work out....
