In the real world, upon completing residency, how far does the name of the program take you. In other words, would you always suggest ranking the highly esteemed program over another that is adequate, but not "top tier"?

The bottom line is:

If you want to be an Acedemic go to a big Acedemic place
If you want to be a private practice type go to a workhorse program and get experience

The top 10% of jobs are usually not advertised, so programs with big reputations are going to get called asking about graduates.

Recruiters will tell you they can land you a good job if you are BC/BE
