I have two conflicting sources regarding the "ADH" hormone. In one source it says ADH is produced in the HypoThalamus and is then stored in the Posterior lobe of Pituitary gland. While the other source states that the hormone is produced and stored in the Posterior lobe of Pituitary gland with no mention of the Hypothalamus at all.

Anyone know for sure the right answer?

as long as my knowledge goes , its secreted in the hypothalamus & stored in the pituitary .

the posterior pituitary hormones oxytocin and ADH are both "produced/synthesized" in the hypothalamus, specifically the supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei, and then transported via the neural pathways or axons to the anterior pituitary and then "secreted" by the pituitary when the need arises or when physiologic changes demand it.

hope this answers ur question.

Thanks guys

Toothmail,

" to the anterior pituitary " dont u mean the postrior pit.
