Mercy College's DPT program is a full-time program that is delivered in a weekend format (approximately 9 - 12 weekends/term). Describe what you think are unique challenges to a weekend format and how will you deal with them.

I am to assume a weekend format means that courses are present during the weekend as opposed to weekdays. If so here is a sample of what I have to say.

Having courses that take place on the weekend may have its benefits as it may provide graduate students with ample time to study for upcoming tests and assignments during the weekdays. However, there can be drawbacks by having courses taking place in the weekends in a graduate program. Many students may be accustomed to taking courses during the five day span of a weekday while resting on a weekend. Having courses pile up on a two day basis due to the demands of a graduate program may feel grueling and even overwhelming. One of the challenges that many graduate students face is to overcome these challenges. One of these ways is to be able to adapt to a new schedule that previously was unheard of for a student. But one must remember that for a loaded coursework of two days, there is a five day grace period to fulfill the obligations of studying and honing ones skills so as to prepare for the next weekends material. Another challenge may be that there is no resting period during this five day grace period. The weekends were previously seen as a period to relax from the shackles of education, however the demands of the physical therapy program are so great that even a five day grace period may not be enough to provide the necessary rest needed to ensure that one does not fall behind in the courses. The best way to handle such a situation would be to plan better and to make a schedule so as to have sufficient rest and sufficient time to study. If one rests a good amount instead of over studying and over exhausting themselves, then any student may have the strength to study and educate themselves further so as not to forget what they have learned.

I am aware that it may not be sufficient enough or good enough but any improvement would be greatly appreciated. I am also asking help from my college's career advisor. The limit must be 4500 characters. Thank you.

First, you need to think about whether you are really answering the question. Second,

One of the challenges that many graduate students face is to overcome these challenges.

I don't want to pee on anyone's bonfire but I would not admit you if I was an adcom member and you sent me this. Spend a couple of hours seriously putting some thought into this essay and have someone you trust proofread it for you. You need to put a little more effort of your own into this before asking others what you should write.

Completely sincere and non-malicious question: are you a native English speaker?

I strongly suggest that you not post portions of your admissions essay on a public forum on the internet. While I agree with the above posters that this essay needs serious editing, you don't want an unscrupulous individual taking advantage of the work you have already put into this. Case in point: I googled Mercy College DPT Essay, and your post was one of the first results without even entering SDN.

For your essay - I would suggest a more active voice. Try to talk about what YOU feel are challenges, and how you will overcome them, not what "graduate students" as a group feel are challenges/seek to overcome.

I agree with everything above (including not posting the essay publicly).
I also don't think you should focus your essay on the idea of "getting sufficient rest," or calling days off a "grace period." And definitely don't use the phrase "shackles of education." Right now, your essay makes it sound like school is just a burden. There's no enthusiasm in it. I suggest spending more time thinking about your answer to this question, and writing it in a way that shows that you are excited about PT school and meeting its challenges.
