question on acquiring virulence and bacteria...

Hi,
for some reason I can never get this down but how do different bacteria acquire their virulence...like through which mechanisms (trandsuction, conjugation, etc)...
I know that c. diptheriae acquires it's virulence through transduction but what about other organisms?

I've gotten a few questions on nbme practice tests about this and i never know if it's conjugation, transposons, etc..

Pg 143 first aid. Transformation SHIN and transduction ABCDE. I know . VRE would be Dala Dala-dala Dlac. Other then that, not sure its worth your time.
