I am looking to go to school for pharmacy & am interested in LIU due to its proximity. I attented 3 semesters of school for chemical technology back in 94-95 & had a 3.98gpa. Due to a family member's illness, I left school & just never ended up going back. Well, I have finally decided that I want to become a pharmacist after a brief stint as a pharm tech (in training.) My question is this, should I try to get into LIU as a freshman to complete all prereqs there? I searched through the threads & it seems that most say they don't give pref. to LIU students? Seeing as I attented some college albeit 12 yrs ago, would they consider me a trx student meaning that I would have to have all prereqs completed? I appreciate any info anybody can provide.

If I am reading this correctly, you only attended 3 semesters in 1994-1995. Most pharmacy schools only consider coursework taken within the last 10 years. Since you will most like need to take your prereqs again, where you take them doesn't really matter. You could take them there but in all honesty, it doesn't matter where you take them as long as you take them. Check the schools you want to apply to (LIU etc) and see if they will except your credits. If the information is not on their website, call.

There is no harm in asking. The worst that they can do is say no.

Thanks, yeah I attended 3 semesters back in 94 & 95. I assumed that the credits wouldn't transfer & I have no problem taking the prereqs again. I was looking to take them at LIU since I thought that perhaps I would have an advantage over transfer students. If there is no advantage, then I will apply to Suny Stony Brook & take my prereqs there since it will save me money.
