Question on LORs

I did two years of research, one year with one professor and the other year with another. The first professor doesn't really know me that well since I worked with my peers most of the time. Is it OK for me to just get a LOR from the 2nd professor and not from the 1st one?

I still haven't made a decision whether to go with MD or MD/PhD. One of my friends told me that if I choose MD/PhD, I have to get letters from all of my research professors, whereas if I just apply for MD, I don't even need a letter from them even though I did two years of research. Is this correct?

I did the same thing as you: researched in one lab for about 6 months with little to no interaction with the PI and switched to another lab that I've been at for a little over a year. I'm applying MD only and I only asked my recent PI for a letter since he knows me a lot better than the other one and it seems to be ok with the schools I've applied to. But it may be different for MD/PhD, not sure.
