Hi does anyone have stats on what number on their rank list most psych applicants (U.S grad) match too? I.e, the percentage matching to a school in their top-five or something along those lines?

I don't know of any official statistics.
I've heard (indirectly) from one program director that near 60% of psych applicants match with the #1 rank.
Don't know how true that is. But psych is generally a buyers market for applicants.

I've also heard the 60% from 3 of the PDs I've talked to this season.

I heard that something like 95% match into their top 3. This was from tables our school gave us, but I'm blocking on where they came from orginally. I hope it's true though, 95% into the top 3 is a lovely statistic!

This is generally true. If you want to match in competitive programs in New York, LA, SF, Boston, be prepared to go further down your list.

Please look at this document (http://www.nrmp.org/data/resultsanddata2007.pdf). Go to page 31 to see what % get their 1st,2nd,3rd, 4th+. Of course this is not specific to psychiatry but general to all fields.

89.3% of US applicant get their first 4 ranks. (assuming they match)
87.2% of independent applicants get their first 4 ranks (assuming they match).

Not bad at all!
