Ok well basically I went to school and got an [SIZE=-1] Associate Degree in X-ray. I did it because I didn't want to burden my parents on paying for my college so I went and got a degree in which I could start to pay for my own schooling. After finding a job I immediately went back to school. I work on the weekends and go to school at my university in the mornings. I will be 23-24 when I finish the pre-requisites to medical school. Being a physician has always been the field I wanted to be in. So that being said. Will I have a problem? Do you think admissions committee to some med schools will ask why I went back to school immediately after getting the associates degree? What should I respond with? Because it seems that if I try to apply to medical school with already having an job in the x-ray field, med school admission committees might be weary of my ability to "commit" to something.

You are in great position. I believe you will able to use this to your advantage as long as you do well in your pre-reqs. Most people try to get the exposure that you are getting. It also a plus that you are actually responsible for your job and not just some 19yo following is uncle around all day.👍

Your history shows maturity, and that is a plus!!!! Don's even stress about but use to your advantage to emphasize ur maturity, and GO FOR IT! GOOD LUCK!

It sounds like if they ask why you went right back to school that you have a perfect answer. Congrats on your hard work and best of luck!

just explain it as you did here - your reason makes perfect sense. You've shown maturity, responsibility and commitment to your goals which will reflect well on your application. If you can complete your prereqs while working full time and do well in them, that will definitely show commitment. Good luck!

Your goal now is to get your bachelors degree in something that interests you and do well. You also have to do well on the Medical college admission test (MCAT) too. Take your time and do well. If you are working full-time, you should not be going to school full-time. Keep in mind that the uGPA for matriculants entering in 2007 was 3.65 and MCAT score was around 31. Those numbers are going up every year so do well. Doing well takes disciplined study and patience if you are trying to work and perform well in school. Maturity is meaningless if you don't have the academics and complete application to go along with it.

Being an x-ray tech will give you some clinical exposure and thus this portion of your application will take care of itself but again, the two main factors in success versus failure in getting into madical school are uGPA and MCAT.

I only work on weekends and my whole week is what I would dedicate to school.
